Interest
The amount paid by a borrower to a lender in exchange for the use of a lender's money for a period of time. Interest is paid on any fixed-income security (a bond, a certificate of deposit, or an annuity, for example) either in regular intervals or as part of the lump-sum payment when the issue matures.
