Next Of Kin
The person or persons in the nearest degree of blood relationship to the decedent. As the term is usually employed, those entitled by law to the personal property of a person who has died without leaving a will (such persons do not include the surviving spouse except where specifically so provided by statute.) To be distinguished from the heirs, who take real property.
