Many SIPs let you invest as little as $50 per month. If you feel that you don't have any "extra" dollars to invest, you can usually free up the money needed to begin a SIP by changing just a few habits. For example, by cutting out some of the small, inexpensive items you buy frequently, like coffee and candy bars, and packing your lunch a few days a week instead of buying it, you'll easily have extra savings which you can invest each month.

Use Dollar Cost Averaging to Your Benefit
Investors who participate in a SIP may benefit from dollar cost averaging, which means spacing out your investment over a period of time, thus "averaging" the price of your investment. By investing a fixed amount on a regular basis, you buy more shares when prices are lower, and fewer shares when prices are higher. The net result may be a reduced average cost per share.
