You may be eligible to postpone your payments by applying for a deferment or forbearance. A deferment can temporarily stop loan payments. Forbearance lets you temporarily stop loan payments or reduce their amount.

payments. If you apply for forbearance, you can forgo
making monthly payments for up to four years.
