HOW DO I QUALIFY?
The Zero-Fee Wachovia Education LoanSM is available to undergraduate, graduate, professional, and international students that are enrolled at least half-time.
To qualify, either the student or their co-borrower must meet our minimum credit criteria and have been employed for two or more years with any number of employers or positions. Also, applicants must be of legal age to enter into a contract (typically 18 in most states).1
Graduate students who aren't employed can qualify independently, without a co-applicant, under our credit-ready guidelines.
There is no minimum income requirement.
Will you need a co-borrower?
If you have limited or poor credit history (or limited employment history), you are strongly encouraged to apply with a qualified co-borrower. This will greatly increase your chances of receiving a loan with the most attractive terms. International students must apply with a co-borrower who is a U.S. citizen or permanent resident in order to qualify.
Co-Borrower Release Option
If you apply with a co-borrower, a co-borrower release option is available during repayment. After you have made all of the first 48 scheduled payments on time, your co-borrower will be eligible for release from his or her repayment responsibilities upon your request.
Applying from outside the United States?
For United States military personnel stationed overseas, please apply using your permanent domestic address. For United States citizens living abroad, please use a domestic address when possible.
