HOW MUCH CAN I BORROW?
For each undergraduate child, a parent can use a Parent PLUS Loan to borrow up to the student's total cost of education, minus all other financial aid awarded.
There are no limits on how you use Parent PLUS funds.
A Parent PLUS Loan can be used for the total cost of education—that includes tuition and fees, room and board, books and supplies, transportation, and miscellaneous expenses. Your student's school will determine and certify this amount.
Funds are sent directly to the school.
Once the loan is approved, the funds will be sent to the school for tuition and fees. Any remaining funds will be returned to you for other education expenses.
Need more help paying for school?
Before you borrow the maximum amount on the Parent PLUS Loan or draw funds from other investments, make sure your family takes full advantage of all available federal aid programs including the Federal Stafford Loan.
