What is Wachovia Security Plus?

Wachovia Security Plus is our commitment to the protection of your information against online fraud and identity theft. We use a wide variety of fraud prevention programs, sophisticated analysis tools, and backroom processes to pinpoint suspicious activity and help us detect and prevent fraud.

Email Fraud

You may receive suspicious email messages, otherwise known as "phishing," from fraudsters as a result of the introduction of Wachovia Security Plus.

Phishing occurs when Internet fraudsters send:

• Spam emails or pop-up messages to lure personal information (credit card numbers, bank account information, Social Security Number, passwords, etc.) from unsuspecting victims.
• An email request that appears to be from an official business, online payment service, or bank.

By following the email instructions you may be at risk for unknowingly providing confidential information to criminals and/or downloading worms or viruses to your computer. Rest assured Wachovia will not send any type of email communication asking you to provide us your personal or bank information.

Protecting Yourself
If you receive a suspicious email that appears to be from Wachovia, please do the following:

• Do not respond to the message, click any of the links, or change the email in any way. Opening or clicking on a link could place a virus on your computer.
• Forward the email to abuse@wachovia.com.
• Delete the email immediately after forwarding it.
• Make sure that your virus definitions and anti-Spyware are up-to-date.
• Scan your computer periodically using anti-Spyware software.
