Since its inception in 1998, the Regional Foundation has awarded 135 program grants totaling over $46.5 million dollars to community-based organizations in a 62 county region in Eastern Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware. The Foundation’s grant making has supported projects which create sustainable community improvement and enhance the lives of the families and children that live within them.
To date, the Foundation's grants have supported programs which have:
Neighborhood Plans
Created twenty comprehensive neighborhood plans, incorporating the vision of more than 5,300 residents.
Affordable Housing & Counseling
Provided financial counseling to 7,326 individuals.
Trained 1,173 people in housing maintenance skills.
Developed 435 rental units and 730 owner-occupied units of affordable housing.
Helped 614 families purchase their homes.
Economic Development
Developed 152 new businesses.
Created 1,561 new jobs within the region.
Trained 2,421 people in jobs such as nursing, computer networking, culinary arts, customer service, and hospitality management.
Placed 4,211 people in living-wage or professional positions.
Coached 4,995 people in basic employment readiness skills such as GED preparation, adult literacy or ESL training, or computer skills training.
Provided technical assistance to over 1,011 businesses and owners.
Neighborhood Building
Beautified neighborhoods through the creation of 337 green spaces, 134 trees planted, 178 blighted properties demolished, 90 cleanups or streetscape enhancements, and 571 housing or business façade improvements.
Developed or strengthened 41 community groups.
Identified and trained 198 neighborhood leaders.
Provided technical assistance to 346 community based organizations or leaders.
Services to Children & Families
Provided case management or life skills to over 4,200 people.
Created 1,644 new childcare slots.
Provided 323 families with home computers.
Developed school-age programs benefiting over 30,400 children.
