Wachovia Congratulates the Small Business Administration on its 50th Anniversary
Small businesses play a critical role in the American economy

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Wachovia Bank, N.A., salutes the federal Small Business Administration on its 50th anniversary. An active nationwide SBA lender for 20 years, Wachovia supports the work and commends the impact the SBA has had during its first five decades in operation. The SBA has furthered the ability of the nation's small businesses to turn innovative ideas into reality and to continue to create jobs for local communities.

"The SBA says it 'empowers' America's small businesses through the 'spirit of entrepreneurship' and by helping them 'realize the American dream,'" said John L. Guy, Jr., head of SBA lending* for Wachovia. "In my 20 years in financial services, I have seen that happen time and again. The SBA has done more for our nation's small businesses than any other group. They are a terrific advocate and an outstanding partner.

"Small businesses are the backbone of our nation's economy. It's a pleasure to work with them every day to find solutions for their financial needs. Wachovia has a focus on increasing our SBA lending nationwide and especially within our East Coast footprint. We will work to remain a preferred lender to enable us to offer our customers the convenience and unmatched service they desire. Innovative solutions and products like our fixed-rate 7(a) loan options will help us reach our lofty SBA lending goals."

Wachovia congratulates the Small Business Administration and the nation's small businesses and thanks them for their contribution to America's future.
