Greg Hanson is Named Head of Wachovia Securities' Technology Investment Banking Group
CHARLOTTE, NC - Wachovia Securities announced Greg Hanson has been promoted to head the firm's Technology Investment Banking Group. Based in San Francisco, Hanson has been a managing director in the firm's Technology Group since he joined Wachovia in February 2001. Hanson will continue to work from the West Coast and will report to Kevin Roche, head of the firm's Investment Banking division.
“Greg has been active in the tech sector for over 15 years and has been an integral part of our Technology Group. We conducted a thorough, outside search to hire a new group head, and in the end, we decided to promote from within. Greg’s excellent experience and the depth of his relationships in the tech industry make him the right person to lead our Technology practice,” said Roche. “I applaud Greg and the whole Technology Group, as they have shown great perseverance and innovation in tough market, and I believe they have laid groundwork in the marketplace that bodes well for our future success in this sector,” he added.
Hanson joined Wachovia Securities from the Technology Investment Banking Group of J.P. Morgan, where he headed the communications equipment and enterprise software banking practices for the western United States. In his new role, he will manage a team of technology bankers based in San Francisco, Charlotte and the Northern Virginia / Baltimore area. Wachovia Securities focuses on clients in a range of technology sectors, including software, IT services, communications technologies, network security and semiconductors.
“I am excited about my new position at Wachovia. This is a great opportunity to build a technology franchise that will provide tech companies a full range of investment and corporate banking services to meet their needs,” said Hanson.
Prior to joining J.P. Morgan, Hanson practiced law with Morrison Forester for seven years in San Francisco, focusing on mergers and acquisitions, public and private financing, venture capital transactions and other securities law matters primarily for technology and telecommunications clients.
Hanson holds a law degree from Stanford Law School, a business degree from the University of Washington and is a certified public accountant and a member of the California Bar.
