First Union to Redeem 71/2 Percent Debentures CHARLOTTE -- The board of directors of First Union Corp. (NYSE:FTU), at a June 17 meeting, elected to redeem all of its outstanding 71/2 percent debentures due Dec. 1, 2002. The redemption will occur on Sept. 1, 1997, at a redemption price equal to 100 percent of the principal amount, plus accrued and unpaid interest to such date. A notice of redemption will be mailed to registered holders of the debentures, which, among other things, will specify that the debentures are to be surrendered for payment at either of the following addresses: First Union National Bank, Corporate Trust Operations, Customer Information Center, 1525 West W.T. Harris Blvd., Charlotte NC 28288; or Citibank, N.A., 111 Wall Street, 5th Floor, Corporate Trust Services, New York, NY 10043.
