Wachovia Names Mike Slocum Head of Real Estate Financial Services CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Wachovia Corp. has named Mike Slocum head of Real Estate Financial Services. Slocum will be responsible for leading the company's continued growth and expertise in serving large commercial and residential real estate developers and projects nationwide. “Mike is one of the top real estate leaders in the industry, and this is an important time for our Real Estate Financial Services business,” said Ben Jenkins, head of Wachovia's General Bank. “Mike will provide strong, long-term leadership as we continue the expansion of our real estate franchise and our push to be the dominant provider of Real Estate Financial Services.” Wachovia's Real Estate Financial Services group delivers a full array of products and services to commercial and residential real estate clients in more than 30 markets including those all along the East Coast from Connecticut to Florida plus Alabama, Tennessee, Mississippi, Illinois, Texas, Arizona and California. Slocum returns to the Real Estate Financial Services role following a successful term as the company's regional chief executive for its banking operations in the Connecticut, New Jersey and New York area. He led the company's entry into the Long Island market and was instrumental in elevating Wachovia’s presence and profile in Manhattan. An 18-year Wachovia veteran, Slocum has also held company leadership roles as Real Estate Banking Executive for Florida and Georgia and Commercial Banking Manager for Atlanta. Slocum holds a B.A. in Economics from Colgate University. He is active in the community, serving as a board member of Teach For America New York City, the New Jersey Chamber of Commerce and The Newark Alliance. He was the corporate chairman of the Alliance for Lupus Research's 2005 New Jersey Walk with Us to Cure Lupus. He is also the 2006 recipient of the Brooke Russell Astor Philanthropy Award from the Citizens for New York City. Glenn Eubanks, the previous head of Real Estate Financial Services, retired in April.
