Wachovia Names Mark Smith Commercial Banking Executive for Pennsylvania/Delaware Region CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Wachovia Corp. announced today that it has named Mark Smith the commercial banking executive for the Pennsylvania/Delaware region. In his new role, Smith is responsible for developing and implementing commercial banking strategies in the region. “Mark’s extensive leadership skills and his knowledge of the business make him the ideal person to lead this key region,” said Hugh Long, Pennsylvania/Delaware Region CEO for Wachovia. “Commercial Banking is a core business for Wachovia and, under Mark’s leadership, we will continue to deliver client-focused solutions that meet the unique needs of our Commercial customers.” Smith is an experienced banker who most recently served as Managing Director in Wachovia’s Corporate and Investment Bank. He has been with the company for 13 years and has held numerous leadership positions. “Mark’s background with Wachovia and his knowledge of Commercial and Investment Banking will help us as we continue to grow and serve companies in the region more effectively,” said Wachovia Wholesale Banking Executive Carlos Evans. “We are looking forward to Mark’s contribution in his new role.” Smith earned a Bachelor of Science from Rutgers University and he and his family reside in New Jersey.
