The firm is building on its roots that began as OFFITBANK more than 20 years ago as a fixed income money manager in the wealth market. Joseph Giglia, former chairman of the OFFITBANK Asset Allocation committee, is leading the team as managing director. Giglia, a 23-year veteran in financial services, oversees the delivery of a comprehensive wealth management platform, including private banking, customized credit services, investment management, financial planning, trust and estate planning, insurance and charitable services.
With the opening of its Manhattan office, Wachovia Wealth Management has 14 offices in the greater New York, New Jersey, Connecticut region. The wealth management expansion complements the corporation’s strategy to grow its retail banking presence in the city. Wachovia Bank opened its first two Manhattan retail financial centers in July, launching an expansion initiative that calls for the addition of 10 more financial centers in Manhattan over the next 18-24 months. As part of Wachovia’s entry into Manhattan, it also will add 25 more ATMs in the city, in addition to more than 40 ATMs at the new financial center locations. Wachovia already operates about 20 ATMs in prominent locations in New York City, including Penn Station and LaGuardia and JFK airports.
“I believe Wachovia is building momentum at exactly the right time,” Giglia said. “I hear the same concern almost every day: People are discontent with their present wealth provider. Wachovia Wealth Management is building an excellent team of specialists right here in Manhattan. With the new financial centers and our new hub office, we are boosting our presence significantly.”
Giglia joined OFFITBANK in 1988 where he managed several institutional and high net worth relationships. Additionally, Giglia was responsible for the high-grade client servicing group, marketing services and alternative investments. In 2000, Giglia was named chairman of the Asset Allocation committee. He received a bachelor’s degree from SUNY at Geneso and a master’s degree in business administration from New York University.
