Bain, Broner and Wilkins Join Wachovia Securities' Mergers and Acquisitions Group

CHARLOTTE, NC - Wachovia Securities announced today that David E. Bain, James M. Broner and Michael M. Wilkins have joined the firm's Mergers and Acquisitions Group and will report to Rob Engel, head of the group at Wachovia Securities. Broner will provide advisory services to clients within the media and communications sector, and Bain and Wilkins will focus on technology clients. 

Bain, based in San Francisco, and Broner, based in New York, join the firm as managing directors.  Wilkins, also based in San Francisco, joins the firm as a director.

“Continuing to build our strategic dialogue with clients is a primary focus of our investment banking effort at Wachovia,” Engel said.  “David, Jim and Mike bring proven sector and transaction knowledge to our firm and will enhance our effort to provide the highest level of advisory capability to clients in the technology and media sectors.”

Bain comes to Wachovia Securities from Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein in San Francisco.  As a managing director and co-head of the global technology group, he advised technology-sector clients on mergers and acquisitions and financing transactions.  His career also includes mergers and acquisitions experience at Lehman Brothers in New York and London.

Broner comes to Wachovia from Banc of America Securities.  As a managing director, he provided mergers and acquisitions and advisory services to media and telecommunications clients.  His career also includes mergers and acquisitions, and in particular, advising media and telecommunication clients at Donaldson, Lufkin and Jenrette and at Credit Suisse First Boston.  Earlier in his career, he worked as an attorney in the Corporate Finance and Mergers and Acquisitions practice of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom.

Wilkins joins Wachovia from Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein in San Francisco, where his responsibilities included mergers and acquisitions execution, financings and coverage of technology clients.  His experience also includes working in the corporate finance and mergers and acquisitions groups at J.P. Morgan & Co. in the firm’s New York, Sydney and San Francisco offices.
