Wachovia Names Certoman CIO for Corporate and Investment Bank

CHARLOTTE, N.C. Wachovia has named Susan Certoma Chief Information Officer for Wachovia’s Corporate and Investment Bank. In this role, Certoma will be responsible for leading the overall technology activities for the Corporate and Investment Banking Division.

Certoma joins Wachovia from Goldman Sachs & Company, where she most recently held the position of vice president leading the Global Sales Technology organization. She worked closely with the Equities and Fixed Income Business Partners and created the strategic technology platform for sales and trading and the MIS and data warehouse environments across the firm.

“Susan brings years of experience and a wealth of knowledge of financial services and technology to the company,” said Martin Davis, Wachovia’s corporate CIO. “She will be a valuable addition to Wachovia and a key partner to CIB.”

In addition to her IT proficiency, Certoma chaired various committees at Goldman Sachs, including Women in Technology, Learning & Professional Development, Career Development and Project Management. She has also actively participated in various programs including mentoring diversity candidates and external community events and charities.

Certoma earned an MBA in finance and a B.S. degree in management/economics from St. John’s University, Jamaica, N.Y.

She has also worked at several premier financial organizations including Merrill Lynch, Lehman Brothers and CSFB, where she held leadership positions in Technology, Business Line groups and Operations.
