Wachovia Wealth Management Debuts New TV Commercials During Wachovia Championship
Broadcast ads next step in award-winning campaign

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wachovia Wealth Management will debut two new television advertising spots this week highlighting the unique offerings of its local, team-based and integrated approach to helping clients manage their wealth. The launch of the new spots was timed to coincide with the Wachovia Championship, the second year for the PGA tour event, which is televised in more than 140 countries on CBS and USA networks.

"After many investors saw their portfolio values decline in the collapse of the bull market of the late 1990s, they are now more focused on setting financial goals, enabled through financial planning, rather than finding the 'next hot stock,'" said Stan Kelly, president of Wachovia Wealth Management. "Our new ads demonstrate that we are objective, proactive and trustworthy. Wachovia Wealth Management has the clients' best interest at heart."

One ad, titled "Greenhouse," focuses on a woman pushing her way through lush foliage to a doorway. As she walks through the door into a vast desert, the voiceover asks, "What can a greenhouse teach us about wealth management? Properly protected, your assets can be nurtured in almost any environment."

The second ad, titled "Kittiwake," is shown from the perspective of a birdwatcher. As the camera pans the rocky cliffs of the Pacific Northwest searching for an elusive bird, the ad asks, "What can the red-legged Kittiwake teach us about unbiased Wealth Management? It exists, really."

The ads will air on the USA Network, CBS, CNN, CNNfn and Headline News from May through July. In addition to national cable and network coverage, the ads will begin to air in mid-May on PBS stations in Wachovia's geographic areas on programs such as Antiques Roadshow, NOVA, Frontline, National Geographic and Nature.

"Last year, Wachovia Wealth Management concentrated on print and radio ads," said Raj Madan, Wachovia's Wealth Management Marketing Director. "This remains a major aspect of our award-winning 'appear global, act local' advertising strategy. We are now moving to another level and leveraging our masterbrand with this new television campaign."

Private Asset Management recognized the ad campaign as the Ad Campaign of the Year in October 2003.
