Product Services brings together the functions of Product Management, Systems Development and Product Support. Together these areas design, deliver and support innovative products for First Union's growing domestic import and export customer base.
Product Services has a staff of 30 professionals located in Charlotte, Miami and London.
First Union's international trade products include trade letters of credit, international funds transfers and payments, foreign collections and other non-credit products. The company is a leading developer of PC based products for international customers.
Recent examples of First Union's international trade product innovation include CyberBank-LC, the world's first Web-based letter of credit issuance product launched in 1996; Export Express, the first PC product to offer exporters consolidated export receivables management, also launched in 1996; and Global Express-FT, a PC-based multicurrency account management and funds transfer product.
Hawkins joined First Union in 1994 as vice president and manager of International Systems. Prior to joining the International Division, he spent eight years with Andersen Consulting, a world-wide consulting firm. Hawking received his master's in business administration from Wake Forest University in 1985.
