Ellinwood joins First Union from A.H. Williams & Co., where he served as a managing director and co-head of investment banking. First Union Capital Markets Corp. is the investment banking subsidiary of Charlotte-based First Union Corporation.
As a managing director, Ellinwood is the first of a three-person team which will lead First Union's public finance efforts in New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Pennsylvania and Delaware. Working with First Union's northern government banking groups, the new team will have responsibility for expanding the company's public sector business by providing clients a full range of capital markets and commercial banking products. Ellinwood will be based in Summit.

First Union is experiencing b growth in the public finance sector, having recently hired Craig Hunter to head the public finance business in Florida and Douglas Carter to lead its public finance efforts in North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and Tennessee.
Ellinwood has worked for Philadelphia-based A.H. Williams & Co. since 1988, concentrating in the New Jersey, New York, Connecticut and Pennsylvania markets. He has extensive experience in all facets of state and local government finance, including specific expertise in healthcare and higher education.
Prior to joining A.H. Williams & Co., Ellinwood was a vice president at Kidder, Peabody & Co. for 11 years, serving in both municipal and corporate finance capacities in New York and Philadelphia. Ellinwood received a bachelor's degree in history from Villanova University and a master's degree in business administration from Boston College.
