Institutional Investor Survey Rates Wachovia's Investor Relations Team Number One
Wachovia also placed second as the most shareholder-friendly large-cap financial firm

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Institutional Investor magazine has rated Wachovia’s Investor Relations department as the Number One investor relations team among all financial institutions.  In addition, Wachovia placed second as the magazine’s pick for the Most Shareholder-Friendly Large-Cap Financial Firm.

“This is a remarkable distinction for our Investor Relations team and our company,” said Tom Wurtz, CFO and head of Finance.  “This achievement reflects the great leadership of our Investor Relations team and our company’s commitment to financial transparency and disclosure with our shareholders.”

Wachovia’s Investor Relations team is led by Alice Lehman.  Lehman joined Wachovia in 1985 and has served as head of Investor Relations for more than 10 years.

The survey polled more than 850 portfolio managers and analysts at approximately 390 asset management firms around the world, in addition to every brokerage firm analyst who received votes in the magazine’s 2005 All-America Research Team rankings.  According to the survey results, the most valuable service Investor Relations officers can provide is transparent high-quality financial information.  The next two most important items include credibility, integrity and candor of the investor relations team and its ability to provide investors with access to top management.  Full details of the survey and results are available on Institutional Investor’s Web site at www.institutionalinvestor.com.
