Physical Certificate
An actual stock or bond certificate demonstrating ownership of that security. Currently, most stocks are held in paperless form, by various depositories, in street name (at a brokerage), or in nominee's name at a trust department. When a physical certificate is received, a stock power must also be received (and signed by the owner) so that the stock can be put in nominee's name for processing by trust.
