Mortality Charge
The fee charged by the insurance company against the separate account which allows the insurer to guarantee that should the owner die before the annuity commencement date, the beneficiary will receive the greater of the account balance, the total of all premiums paid (less any previous withdrawals), or some other stated minimum amount.
