Does the account registration have to be identical on the accounts I'm transferring to and from?
Yes, the ownership of both accounts must be listed exactly the same. The only exceptions to this are transfers from a single to a joint account, from a joint to a single account, or from two accounts with the same account holders listed in a different order. In these cases, all account holders must still sign and date a letter authorizing us to complete the transfer and recognizing the potential effect of the transfer on the ownership of the assets.

What investments cannot be transferred to my brokerage account?
Private placements, bank CD’s, 401(k) assets, and some mutual funds must be liquidated and then transferred as cash before they can be transferred into your brokerage account. Check with the sending institution, or your Financial Advisor, for more specifics.
What types of investments can I transfer to my brokerage account?
Cash, stocks, bonds, options, as well as load and no-load mutual funds can be transferred into your brokerage account.
Do I need to mail my original statement from the delivering firm?
No. You may mail in a copy of your statement as long as it is dated within 90 days.
How long will the transfer process take?
Once the Account Transfer Department receives your signed and completed application, your transfer request may take from seven to 10 business days to be processed. Transfers of mutual funds held directly with the fund company take longer—from two to four weeks.
In addition, partial account transfers from an outside firm into your Wachovia Securities brokerage account must be done manually, and may take up to 20 business days to complete.
What types of accounts can be transferred?
Whether the securities are being transferred without being sold, or liquidated and then transferred as cash, both the “to” and “from” accounts must have the same registration—i.e. the same ownership and legal status. For example, an IRA must transfer into an IRA.
