Midquarter Convention
A depreciation convention (replacing half-year convention for certain tax-players in certain years) that assumes all equipment is placed in service halfway through the quarter in which it was actually placed in service. Allowable acquisition and disposition year depreciation deductions are prorated based upon the midquarter date of the quarter in which the asset was placed in service.
