Weiss joins Wachovia Securities from JP Morgan Chase, where he was managing director and global head of the Financial Sponsors Group. Weiss began his career at JP Morgan Chase in 1980 in the bank’s Latin America division. He spent several years in the Loan Syndications and Acquisition Financing group and has also served as head of the Retail Industries Investment Banking Group. Before leading JP Morgan Chase’s Financial Sponsors Group, Weiss was managing director and head of the firm’s Investment Banking practice in Asia. Weiss assumes the leadership of Wachovia Securities’ Financial Sponsors Group from Jeff Armstrong, who was head of the team before being named head of Wachovia Securities’ Corporate Finance Division in March of this year.
