Marguerite Fugazzi Mason died in January 1991, leaving the bulk of her estate to the Carlos and Marguerite Mason Trust. The purpose of the Trust, created in loving memory of her husband, Carlos Mason, is to improve the process of organ transplantation for Georgians through the grants to Georgia 501(c)(3) organizations “first and primarily to enable them to provide needy persons who are residents of the State of Georgia with financial assistance when they require transplants of eyes, kidneys, hearts and other human organs…”.
The terms of the will also permit Wachovia Bank, N.A., as Trustee to utilize up to 25% of income of the trust “for the purpose of research in methods of improving the transplant of eyes, kidneys, hearts and other human organs…”.
The focus of the Trust is to respond to the needs of the residents of the State of Georgia in the area of organ transplantation through awarding grants to qualified organizations and institutions.
