Grant Guidelines

The Cordelia Lee Beattie Foundation makes grants to qualified 501©(3) organizations in Sarasota County.  Wachovia Bank has served as Trustee since 1973. 

The purpose of the foundation is to provide scholarships for deserving, gifted and needy individuals without  regard to race, creed, nationality, color or sex, in order that they may attend schools, colleges, universities or other educational institutions in the State of Florida, or in order that they may engage in scientific or medical research in the State of Florida.   In view of the Grantor's lifelong interest in music and the fine arts it is Grantor's request that Trustee give particular attention to the requirements of the various cultural organizations of Sarasota County, including the West Coast Symphony Orchestra and its scholarship trust fund if the scholar is seriously interested in pursuing a musical career.

Application Process

All requests must include:

• Background information on the organization, including a brief history, the organization's current address and phone number, and the name and title of the primary contact
• The goals, objectives, and budget for the one project or program which funds are being requested
• The amount of the grant requested
• Summary of how the funds will be used
• Supporting financial information on the organization, to include current financial status and listing of Board of Trustees
• Copy of organization's tax exemption letter from the Internal Revenue Service

Applications and required supporting material must be received by January 15.  You will be notified in writing of the Committee's decision by March 15.

Please note: Organizations may not apply to both this foundation and Sarasota County Foundation within the same year.
