GRANT GUIDELINES

The David, Helen and Marian Woodward Fund makes grants to qualified 501(c)(3) organizations which meet guidelines established by the Foundation trustees. Grant making focuses on capital projects.

Upon receipt of grant requests by the Trustee, an acknowledgement is sent to the applicant.

The Distribution Committee makes its decisions based on materials provided in the grant request. Applicants should not contact Committee Members personally concerning a proposal or anticipated approach to the Fund.

Each applicant will be notified in writing after a decision on its proposal has been made. If a grant is awarded, funds are generally disbursed to the organization 4-6 weeks after the Committee meeting.

Grant recipients are requested to submit a brief written report at the completion of the project describing what has been accomplished with the funds granted. Reports are to be mailed to the Trustee.

All applicants are requested to wait at least two years from the date of any previous application or grant award payment before submitting a new proposal to the Fund. The Funds board meets semi-annually in June and December.  Requests must be postmarked by May 1 and November 1 respectively in order to be considered.

Required Items to Be Submitted

The Trust does not require a formal application form, but requests a proposal outlining the project or program and containing the following information:

• A description of the project or program
• Complete itemized project budget, including project schedule
• Need for the project
• Other funding sources, including the amount received from each source
• Names and qualifications of those conducting the project
• Objectives and how they will be achieved
• A brief description of the applicant organization
• Method and criteria for evaluation of the project
• List of the Officers, Board of Directors or Trustees
• A copy of the letter verifying your 501(c)(3) status
• Plans for recognition of the Trust in project
• All applications must be postmarked by the deadline to be considered
