GRANT GUIDELINES
Funding Policies
Funds can be granted only to institutions or organizations located within the State of Georgia. The Trust is not permitted to make grants to individuals.
The Trustee will consider requests for grants for capital improvements such as buildings, furniture and equipment, and alterations to existing structures.
Start up grants are awarded to new projects and programs addressing a critical need in the area of patient financial challenges associated with solid organ transplantation and demonstrating potential for ongoing external or institutional support.
The Trustee considers challenge or matching grant proposals.
The Trust generally does not fund endowment, nor does it fund general goodwill advertising.
It is the policy of the Trust not to make grants which would replace existing sources of funding.
The Trust does not pay indirect or overhead expenses for projects at colleges, universities, governmental units, or other established organizations.
The Trust may make grants up to three years in length.
Application Process
Fund awards can be granted only to institutions or organizations located within the State of Georgia with 501(c)(3) status. Under the terms of the Trust, individuals cannot be considered for funding.
Applicants are required to contact the Trustee Representative for an appointment prior to submitting a grant request.
To be eligible for funding, applications must be postmarked or hand delivered to the office of the Trustee by June 1.
The Trustee makes its decisions based on materials provided in the grant request, interviews, site visits, and recommendations from advisory sources. It is requested that all communication be made through Wachovia Charitable Funds Management, and that individual committee members or officers of Wachovia Bank, N.A. not be personally contacted concerning a proposal or anticipated approach to the Trust.
The Trustee requires that all requests be signed by the Chief Executive Officer of the institution or organization. If request is made for more than one project or program, the CEO must provide the Trustee with priority of application.
All grant applications must be submitted separately, and the Trustee requires two (2) copies of each application.
Required Items to Be Submitted
The Trust does not require a formal application form, but requests a proposal outlining the project or program and containing the following information:
- A description of the project or program
- Complete itemized project budget, including project schedule
- Need for the project
- Other funding sources, including the amount received from each source
- Names and qualifications of those conducting the project
- Objectives and how they will be achieved
- A brief description of the applicant organization
- Method and criteria for evaluation of the project
- List of the Officers, Board of Directors or Trustees
- A copy of the letter verifying your 501(c)(3) status
- Plans for recognition of the Trust in project
- A copy of the organization’s most recent audited annual financial statement
Additional information and material may be submitted to supplement the application.
Evaluation
The Trustee requires periodic reporting during the project, as well as a report at the end of the grant period.
